But I had to mention what I won in the silent auction. CON had a bottle of Crystal Head Vodka autographed by Dan Ackroyd himself. It's a skull shaped bottle made of glass filled with vodka that has been filtered through herkimer diamonds which supposedly have healing powers.
I knew Dan Ackroyd was a bit of a nut but I didn't think he was that into it. The more I watch the video on his website the more I think he believes his own crap.
Omnifarious pointed out that this bottle of vodka will gain in value after the promotion bombs kind of like Billy Beer.
I went to the silent auction to pick up some replica NASA patches. The vodka came up and when the bidding got high I offered to make a bid if the auctioneer quoted some lines from Hamlet. He stumbled over a few worked and then another auctioneer tried it too. I kept the bid anyway. I was a little embarrassed at the time but the more I think about it the more I like the novelty.
The patches went for far more then I would have paid for them. The NASA buffs way out bid the patch fan. |

I have seen the bottles, and I have always thought they were cool.
Expensive, but cool.
BTW, I have 2 batches of mead done and bottled if you want some...
Lilly & Pomegranate, which everyone has really liked so far.
I have another batch of Jalapeño/Cinnamon mead brewing.
The last batch was only 2 bottles, but it won the blue ribbon at a brewing contest.
It should be done in a few months.
Even though Dan is weird and his concepts are weirder, I may have to buy the Vodka anyway. | |
