My computer is still down and I haven't gotten off my ass to get it fixed.

Mom is recovering from knee surgery which should help her walk a little. She's suppose to be wearing a brace but doesn't like it.

because of last week I've started a veggie bender with a batch of cabbage soup.

I know it's the holidays but I want to get back on my diet. I weighed myself this morning and I'm at 161. I'm 11 pounds over weight. I haven't been walking as much as when I was training and my new pants are getting tight again.

I want to cut back on the sweets too. It's this time of year everyone brings in all the candy.

I know there are people out there who are rolling their eyes over 11 pounds but I'm going for health not good looks. I still have that Einstein do.

I had a bit of a wonky week last week. Something I had eaten was cramping me up a little but I'm feeling better.

I was at 155 Lbs. this morning.

I'm eating the same but I'm not conscientiously trying to follow the diet. This morning I was back down to 165. It will be interesting to see how things change over the winter.

If you haven't followed my journal for the last eight months I've lost forty pounds. I want to spell out how I did it for the friends out there who are trying to lose weight too.

The first thing I did was look up low cal recipes on the internet. There is a lot of really good ones out there. One of my favorites is the recipe for 3 bean chili, Tres Frejoles Diablo. I found this at the Life hack web site. They have all kinds of good recipes that you can print out for free.

Cooking for my self was a big help. I developed an appreciation for cooking that I didn't have before. I like the smell of the kitchen while I'm really cooking rather then reheating something. It's a hell of a lot cheaper then all those pricey box meals. I can make two weeks of lunches on the cost of three boxed meals.

Those Glad brand disposable tupper ware containers are great for portion control. I use the 3 cup size and fill it half way full. I can't help noticing how small the prefab meals are. It's liek eating your dinner out of an ash tray.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are never bad. Even before the diet I would include an apple with my lunch box. Celery is a freebee too. I like it raw without anything. As far as snacks go chewing gum can be help burn calories. I recommend Sugarless Peppermint Bubbleyum. You can order it by the case on line from Amazon.com.

For breakfast I would have half a cup of rolled oats. You can buy it at Rainbow for 59 cents a pound in the bulk foods section. It taste good with a sprinkle of raisins and some honey. It's much better then Quaker Oats who drown their stuff in sugar.

Beyond what the information that came with the recipes I really didn't pay too much attention to calories. I think constantly checking calories and whether something contains one meat point and two veg would drive you nuts. Common sense was the basis for food choices. I tried to stick with low sodium ingredients as well. You would not believe how much salt is in most canned items. I didn't have a dead line either. I was finished when I hit my goal. My diet was for health reasons. I'm not trying to lose X pounds before the high school reunion.

Living blocks away from the lakes made exersizing easier. Someone told me once that a good walk gives you the same cardio work out as running. I don't know if that's true or not. Walking is free and doesn't require special equipment.

For Pete's sake give yourself a day off once in a while. I can't imagine what CONvergence would have been like on a diet. Don't bust yourself up for snacking now and then. I ended up at a gathering or a party every other weekend. Sometimes I would bring something I've made to it as well.

I should say that I'm by no means a professional. Consult a physician before starting any kind of weight program.

So this morning my diet has ended. I don't see my eating habits changing that much. There might be an adjustment of portions but it would be the same stuff.

We had a pot luck at work as a part of Diversity Week. I made my gazpacho recipe. Two thirds of it was eaten. I could get two lunches out of the rest. I don't know if I should take it home or leave it here for lunches.

I've been dieting for the last eight months then I pigged out. I tried a little bit of everything. There was several really great indian dishes. I ate too much. I didn't feel sick I just felt really heavy. If I had time I would have walked around the pond three or four times. I need to get used to my new capasity.

I'm thinking of walking around the mall on the way home.

I waffled around 155 for the last week and a half but I made another batch of the veggie chili that realy helped and I should be targeting in on my goal weight soon.

I had snacked a bit in saturday. The salty snacks I'm not too concerned about but the candy bar was defiantley a no no. I didn't have anything today until I got home from D's. I just wasn't that hungry. I don't think I did any damage but I don't think I had any progress either.

We'll see.

I'm still solidly at 160. Not much has changed really. I'm going to cut back on portions and see if that kicks my diet back in gear for the final ten pound push. I will have to cook less as well.

I plan on walking around all four lakes this weekend. With a repeat walk around Calhoun it should add up around 13 and a half miles.

I'm going to pick up a camel pack and a good sized water bottle but I'm going to hold off on the I-pod until I'm sure what works with my computer system.
